I feel like the Southern part of city is perfect for people who need to commute to Silicon Valley but still want to live in the city, like Noe and Glen Park. If that's too far, Burlingame would be another excellent option. I've lived in both and loveeee both areas.

I worked in Palo Alto for 3 years and while I love downtown PA very much, I would choose San Francisco over and over again for the incredible food scene.

Both used to be great but one has taken the crown and it's san jose prove me wrong and take a visit. The weather, The cleaniness etc......or go San Francisco😂 enjoy empty downtown, the high taxes, the homeless and all the grumpy people that walk around afraid!!!!!

The really expensive parts of town (SF) have some great highly ranked schools.

My aunt lives in a condo literally adjacent to Lafayette Park. It’s an amazing neighborhood.

I left SF - for good - 10 years ago. I was very lucky over 25 years to live in several ratty but cheap homes in some great areas - 9th/Irving, Cole/Haight, Parnassus, Oak/Diviz. My dream was to live in North Beach, which I notice you didn't mention at all. What gives? North Beach is awesome! Depending on the weather you'd swear you were in Greenwich Village or even London. Yeah, there's no transit to speak of, and you'd hardly call it walkable, and it does have a gritty but not threatening vibe. I'm truly grateful that I had a chance to live in the City when it was really at its peak, which for my money was the 90s. The only regret I had about leaving the City was that I didn't do it about 5 years sooner. Great video, and I had more than a few belly laughs when you were listing off the prices! I do understand the appeal of the CIty and maybe I'm just old but I wouldn't live there now if you paid me. It's a great place to be when you're 30. 60... not so much.

In the past 25 years, I’ve lived in the inner Richmond, Hayes Valley, and SOMA. While I love love love the inner Richmond, getting to the freeway took forever. I really enjoyed living a block from the 6th street 280 freeway entrance. During the pandemic, it only took me 35 minutes to get to Palo Alto by car. Might take longer now but I don’t think it gets too bad there. Also used to live on Fell and Laguna when the old freeway exit was there. Love the neighborhood but I’d do anything to avoid getting on the freeway from Octavia.

The best way to get around the city under 3 miles is an electric scooter (your own). I used to take Caltrain in from the peninsula and then scooter all over the city. Better than driving. Besides your car will get broken into

The entire southeastern area including East Cut (I really hate that name), South Beach, Mission Rock, etc. is built on landfill and will have really bad liquefaction in the next earthquake.

Portola is a great neighborhood that no one talks about, MUNI runs directly to downtown and it has easy access to 101/280 north and south. It’s also a very quiet neighborhood with lots of restaurants and shops off San Bruno Ave., and close to the second largest park in SF, McLaren Park.

I want that view of the bridge. 🛸🌃

What about geologic activity and Earthquakes? Are these new developments built on solid ground?

I grew up in the City and have lived here continuously since 1977. Before real estate skyrocketed to unbelievable levels, San Francisco was a magnet for culture and the arts. The City was home to legendary musicians such as Journey, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Huey Lewis & the News, Metallica, Sylvester, Carlos Santana, Green Day, Steve Miller Band, and Sly & the Family Stone to name a few. Now, I can't even think of any major music act that came out of SF since 2000. The one thing that really hasn't changed over the years is our vibrant food scene. Those who've been here since the 1980s will wax nostalgic at groundbreaking restaurants like Masa's, Stars, The Flying Saucer, Spork, Aqua, Cypress Club, Postrio, and Square One. However, even the food scene seems to have "cooled down" in this City since the pandemic. For 2 years in a row now, no Bay Area food institution was awarded a James Beard award and only one made it in World's 50 Best for 2024: Single Thread in Healdsburg.

I fell in love with the city the first time I visted in the 80s. For me, since I'm unable to drive due to my poor eyesight, a major factor is that it's one of the few cities where it's easy to get around without a car and the only one where it doesn't snow.
